Everything your devices need, in one calm workbench.

FixBench turns scattered troubleshooting advice into structured playbooks, guides, and habits you can trust — from the first symptom to the repair shop door.

01

Triage

Symptom wizard matches common problems to the right guide. Device health overview, backup readiness checklists, daily maintenance tasks, and streak tracking keep you ahead of failures.

02

Rescue

12 offline emergency protocols for water damage, power failures, cracked screens, overheating, and more. Clear do's and don'ts with Live Activity tracking on Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.

03

Workshop

42 educational articles from beginner to advanced. Repair cost estimator, maintenance schedules, safety primer, and interactive device diagrams help you plan before visiting a shop.

04

Map

Curated US repair shop listings with filters by device type and service category. Search by city or ZIP, compare shops side by side, and optionally find nearby results using your location.

05

Toolkit

70 practical device lifehacks, a personal repair journal, privacy checklist, performance tips, useful shortcuts, and 22 achievements to track your progress over time.

06

Built for real situations

Core guides and checklists work offline. No account required — your data stays on your device. Export weekly reports and journal entries whenever you want to share or back up.

About

Your personal device workbench.

FixBench is an educational reference for people who want a calm, structured way to handle device emergencies, plan repairs, and build better maintenance habits — without noise, accounts, or clutter.

Inside the app you triage symptoms, follow emergency playbooks, read workshop articles, find repair shops on the map, and log your device history in a personal journal. Optional weekly reminders and Live Activity step tracking help you stay on course when it matters most.

Important: FixBench provides educational reference material only. It is not professional repair advice, not a substitute for certified technicians, and not affiliated with Apple, Samsung, Google, or any repair chain. For serious hardware failure, data loss, or safety concerns, contact a qualified professional service provider.

Privacy policy

Your device records stay on your device.

📅 Effective date: July 13, 2026 · Last updated: July 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how FixBench (the "Application") handles information when you use our device workbench app. The Application is provided by Julie Choudek ("we", "us", or "our").

Information We Collect

FixBench does not require an account, sign-up, or login. We do not ask for your name, email, or phone number inside the app. We do not run third-party analytics, advertising networks, or usage trackers.

The following data is stored locally on your device only:

  • Owned device preferences and default city/ZIP
  • Repair journal entries (issues, costs, notes)
  • Checklist progress, saved protocols, and favorites
  • Achievement and maintenance streak records
  • Notification and Live Activity preferences you enable
  • Cached OpenStreetMap shop search results

Location

Location access is optional and requested only when you use the Map tab to find nearby repair shops. Your coordinates are used on-device to sort and filter listings. We do not receive or store your location on our servers.

Third-Party Services

When you search the map by city, ZIP, or nearby area, the app may send requests to:

  • OpenStreetMap Nominatim — geocoding city/ZIP searches
  • Overpass API (OpenStreetMap) — supplemental local repair shop listings

These requests include search coordinates or place names needed to return map results. We do not transmit your journal, preferences, or personal profile to these services. Curated shop listings and all guides, articles, and lifehacks are bundled in the app and work offline.

Notifications & Live Activity

If you enable weekly maintenance reminders or start an emergency protocol, those features use Apple's system frameworks on your device. We do not receive notification content or Live Activity data on our servers.

Data Storage & Retention

All of your content remains in the app's private storage on your device. There is no cloud sync and no remote backup operated by us. You may export weekly reports and journal data via the system share sheet. Deleting the app permanently removes associated local data from your device.

Children's Privacy

The Application does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because no personal data is collected or transmitted to us, the app aligns with COPPA and similar child-privacy standards.

Your Control

You can edit or delete journal entries, reset all data, or uninstall the Application at any time. Use Settings → Reset all data to remove preferences, journal entries, and checklists from your device.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect app improvements or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. The core commitment — local storage, no accounts, no sale of personal data — will not change without clear notice.
